Privacy Policy
Last updated: March 2026
1. Overview
CrowdFundWith ("we," "us," or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and what choices you have.
By using CrowdFundWith, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use our Platform.
2. What We Collect
2.1 Information You Provide
- Name and email address — provided when you sign in with Google or register as a creator.
- Google profile information — when you use Sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, and profile photo from your Google account. We do not receive your Google password.
- Project content — for creators, this includes project descriptions, images, updates, and milestone information you submit to the Platform.
- Communications — messages sent through the Platform between creators and backers.
- Comments — any comments you post on project pages.
2.2 Payment Information
CrowdFundWith does not collect or store your credit card numbers, bank account details, or other sensitive payment information. All payment data is handled directly by Stripe, our third-party payment processor. We receive from Stripe only confirmation of successful transactions and metadata needed to record commitments (amounts, dates, status).
For creators using Stripe Connect, Stripe stores your payout information (bank account details) on their systems, not ours.
2.3 Information Collected Automatically
- Usage data — pages visited, time spent, clicks, search queries, and other interactions with the Platform.
- Device and browser information — browser type, operating system, IP address, and device identifiers.
- Referral sources — how you arrived at CrowdFundWith (e.g., from a search engine or direct link).
- Cookies and similar technologies — used to maintain your session, remember preferences, and support analytics.
3. How We Use Your Information
- Account management — to create and maintain your account, verify your identity, and provide access to authenticated features.
- Payment processing — to initiate and track commitment transactions through Stripe. We pass your backer ID and commitment details to Stripe to facilitate payments.
- Communications — to send you important notices about your account, commitments, platform updates, and security alerts. We may also send you optional notifications about projects you support.
- Platform improvement — to understand how users interact with the Platform so we can fix bugs, improve features, and build new ones.
- Safety and fraud prevention — to detect and prevent fraudulent activity, policy violations, and security threats.
- Legal compliance — to comply with applicable laws, regulations, and legal requests.
4. Stripe Connect
CrowdFundWith uses Stripe Connect to process all payments on the Platform. When you make or receive a payment through CrowdFundWith, Stripe may collect additional information as described in Stripe's Privacy Policy.
Stripe's collection and processing of your financial data is subject to their own terms and privacy policy. We recommend reviewing Stripe's policies at stripe.com/privacy.
We do not store credit card numbers, CVV codes, or full bank account details on CrowdFundWith's systems. This information lives exclusively in Stripe's secure environment.
5. Google Sign-In
CrowdFundWith uses Google OAuth 2.0 for backer authentication. When you sign in with Google, we receive:
- Your name, as it appears on your Google account
- Your Google account email address
- Your Google profile photo (if available)
- A unique Google identifier (used to recognize your account on future sign-ins)
We do not receive access to your Google Drive, Gmail, contacts, calendar, or any other Google services. Your Google credentials are never stored by CrowdFundWith — Google handles all authentication.
6. Google Analytics
We use Google Analytics 4 to collect anonymous usage data about how visitors interact with the Platform. This data includes page views, session duration, referral sources, and device information. This data is aggregated and cannot be used to identify individual users.
Google Analytics may use cookies on your device to collect this data. You can opt out of Google Analytics by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
We also use Google Tag Manager to manage analytics and tracking tags. GTM itself does not collect personal data but may load tools that do.
7. Information Sharing
We do not sell your personal information to third parties. We share information only in the following circumstances:
- Service providers — with Stripe (payments), Google (authentication and analytics), and hosting infrastructure providers, solely to operate the Platform.
- Between creators and backers — your name and commitment amount are visible to the project creator whose project you support. Creators do not see your full payment details. Backers do not see other backers' identities by default.
- Legal requirements — if required to do so by law or in response to a valid legal request (court order, subpoena, etc.).
- Business transfers — if CrowdFundWith is acquired, merged, or sells assets, user data may transfer to the acquiring entity, subject to the same privacy commitments.
8. Data Retention
We retain your account information for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete or anonymize your personal information within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it for legal or financial compliance purposes (typically up to 7 years for transaction records, as required by Canadian tax law).
Messages and comments may be retained for a reasonable period after account deletion to maintain integrity of project communication histories.
9. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal information:
- Access — request a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
- Correction — request that we correct inaccurate information.
- Deletion — request that we delete your account and associated personal data.
- Portability — request your data in a portable, machine-readable format.
- Withdrawal of consent — withdraw consent for optional data processing at any time.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at privacy@crowdfundwith.com. We will respond within 30 days.
10. Cookies
CrowdFundWith uses cookies and similar technologies for:
- Authentication — to keep you signed in across sessions (session cookies, cleared when you close your browser).
- Preferences — to remember your settings and preferences.
- Analytics — via Google Analytics, to understand Platform usage (can be opted out, see Section 6).
You can disable cookies in your browser settings, but this may affect your ability to use authenticated features of the Platform.
11. Security
We implement reasonable technical and organizational safeguards to protect your personal information, including HTTPS encryption for all data in transit, hashed storage of sensitive credentials, and access controls limiting who can access personal data internally.
No system is completely secure. If you believe your account has been compromised, contact us immediately at security@crowdfundwith.com.
12. Children's Privacy
CrowdFundWith is not intended for individuals under 18 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from minors. If we learn that we have inadvertently collected information from a minor, we will delete it promptly.
13. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by email or by posting a notice on the Platform. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
