Creator Agreement

API Terms and Creator Responsibilities

Last updated: March 2026

This Creator Agreement governs your use of the CrowdFundWith API and your responsibilities as a creator on the Platform. It supplements our Terms of Service, which also apply to creators. If there is a conflict, this Agreement controls for creator-specific matters.

By registering as a creator and receiving an API key, you agree to be bound by this Agreement.

1. API Access

1.1 Grant of Access

Upon registration, CrowdFundWith grants you a non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable right to access and use the CrowdFundWith REST API to create and manage projects, post updates, message backers, and retrieve analytics for your projects.

1.2 Rate Limits

API access is subject to rate limiting. The default rate limit is 100 requests per 15 minutes for general API endpoints and 20 requests per 15 minutes for authentication-related endpoints. If you require higher limits for legitimate use cases, contact us at api@crowdfundwith.com.

1.3 Permitted Uses

The API may be used to:

  • Create, update, and manage your own projects
  • Upload images and media for your projects
  • Post updates and communicate with backers
  • Set and manage funding milestones and commitment tiers
  • Retrieve analytics and stats for your projects
  • Automate project management via AI agents or custom tooling

1.4 Prohibited Uses

The API may not be used to:

  • Access or modify projects, data, or accounts that you do not own
  • Scrape or bulk-export backer data beyond your own projects
  • Send spam or unsolicited messages to backers
  • Circumvent rate limits through multiple API keys or accounts
  • Reverse-engineer or copy the Platform's functionality
  • Create bots or automated systems that simulate backer activity

2. API Keys

2.1 Keep Your Key Secret

Your API key is a secret credential that authenticates your identity. Do not share your API key publicly, commit it to public repositories, or embed it in client-side code (browser JavaScript, mobile apps, etc.).

2.2 One Key Per Account

Each creator account is issued one API key. You may regenerate your key at any time through the API. Regenerating your key immediately invalidates the previous key.

2.3 Key Compromise

If you believe your API key has been compromised, regenerate it immediately. You are responsible for all API usage made with your key until it is regenerated. CrowdFundWith is not liable for unauthorized actions taken using a compromised key.

2.4 Key Format

API keys are prefixed with cfw_ followed by a 64-character hexadecimal string. Your key is shown only once upon registration or regeneration. Store it securely — we cannot recover or display it again.

3. Content Guidelines

3.1 Honest Projects

All projects posted through the API must be genuine, honest representations of work you intend to do. Projects must accurately describe what backers are supporting and what milestones mean in practice.

3.2 Prohibited Content

The following project types and content are strictly prohibited:

  • Projects that are fraudulent, deceptive, or designed to extract money without delivering anything
  • Projects promoting illegal activities in any jurisdiction
  • Projects involving hate speech, threats, harassment, or discrimination
  • Projects involving weapons, controlled substances, or other regulated products
  • Sexually explicit or adult content
  • Projects impersonating real individuals, organizations, or brands
  • Projects with false or misleading statistics, testimonials, or credentials
  • Pyramid schemes, multi-level marketing, or referral-based revenue models

3.3 Image and Media Standards

All images uploaded must be original or properly licensed. Images must not contain adult content, graphic violence, or copyrighted material you do not have the right to use. CrowdFundWith may remove images that violate these standards without notice.

3.4 Updates and Communication

Messages and updates sent to backers through the Platform must be relevant to the project and respectful. Spam, unsolicited promotions for other products, or abusive content will result in messaging access being suspended.

4. Fee Structure

4.1 Standard Platform Fee (12.5%)

For backer commitments at the $7, $14, and $21 USD per month tiers, CrowdFundWith deducts a 12.5% platform application fee via Stripe Connect. This is automatically applied by Stripe — you do not need to configure it manually.

Example: A $7/month commitment results in $6.125 transferred to your Stripe account (less Stripe's processing fee).

4.2 Premium Tiers — No Platform Fee (0%)

For backer commitments of $50 USD per month or above, no platform fee applies. 100% of the committed amount (less Stripe's processing fee) is transferred to your Stripe Connect account.

4.3 Custom Amounts

Custom commitment amounts above $21 USD per month incur no platform fee. Custom amounts of $21 or below incur the standard 12.5% fee.

4.4 Stripe Processing Fees

All transactions are subject to Stripe's standard payment processing fees (typically 2.9% + $0.30 per transaction for US cards). These are charged by Stripe and are not controlled by or paid to CrowdFundWith.

4.5 No Creator Signup Fee

Registration and API access are free. You only pay the platform fee as a percentage of successful backer commitments received.

5. Stripe Connect Requirement

5.1 Required for Payouts

To receive payments from backers, you must complete Stripe Connect onboarding by creating a Stripe Express account. Until onboarding is complete, backers will see a notice that payments are not yet enabled for your project.

5.2 Stripe's Terms

Your Stripe Connect account is governed by Stripe's Connected Account Agreement. You must comply with Stripe's terms in addition to this Agreement.

5.3 Account in Good Standing

You must maintain your Stripe Connect account in good standing. If Stripe suspends or terminates your account, your ability to receive payments through CrowdFundWith will also be suspended until the issue is resolved with Stripe.

5.4 Tax Responsibility

You are solely responsible for all tax obligations arising from payments you receive through the Platform, including income taxes and applicable sales taxes in your jurisdiction. CrowdFundWith does not provide tax advice.

6. AI Builder Terms

6.1 Optional Service

The AI Builder is an optional paid service. You are not required to use it to create projects on CrowdFundWith.

6.2 How It Works

When you use the AI Builder, you provide a description of your project (text, voice, or other input). Our AI system generates a project title, description, category tags, commitment tiers, milestone goals, and a set of images using generative AI technology.

6.3 Pricing

You may choose one of two pricing options for AI Builder usage:

  • Option A — Revenue Share: 25% platform fee on all revenue from the project (instead of the standard 12.5%). This option has no upfront cost.
  • Option B — Fixed Fee: A one-time $100 CAD build fee charged at the time of project creation, plus the standard 12.5% platform fee on all revenue.

6.4 Your Responsibility to Review

AI-generated content may contain inaccuracies, stylistic issues, or content that does not accurately represent your project. You are responsible for reviewing all AI-generated content before publishing. Publishing AI-generated content that is false, misleading, or violates these guidelines is your responsibility, not CrowdFundWith's.

6.5 Image Ownership

AI-generated images created for your project are provided for your use on the CrowdFundWith Platform. Ownership and licensing of AI-generated images may be subject to the terms of the underlying AI provider. CrowdFundWith makes no representation about your legal rights to AI-generated images outside the Platform.

6.6 No Guarantee of Quality

CrowdFundWith makes no warranties about the quality, effectiveness, or commercial success of AI-generated project pages. The AI Builder is a tool to help with setup — results vary.

7. Creator Obligations

7.1 Good Faith Effort

You commit to making a good-faith effort to advance your project and deliver on stated milestones. You are not obligated to succeed, but you must not abandon a project without reasonable communication to backers.

7.2 Timely Communication

If your project is significantly delayed, pivoting in direction, or facing serious challenges, you must communicate this to your backers through the Platform's update system in a timely manner.

7.3 Accurate Stats

You must not misrepresent your project's traction, backer count, or funding status when communicating with backers or externally.

8. Termination

8.1 Termination by You

You may cancel your creator account at any time by contacting support@crowdfundwith.com. Upon cancellation, your projects will be archived and backers will be notified that their commitments will be cancelled.

8.2 Termination by CrowdFundWith

CrowdFundWith may suspend or terminate your API access and creator account, with or without notice, for:

  • Violations of this Agreement or the Terms of Service
  • Fraudulent or deceptive activity
  • Receiving a disproportionate number of backer complaints
  • Actions that CrowdFundWith determines, at its sole discretion, to be harmful to the Platform or its users
  • Failure to maintain a Stripe Connect account in good standing

8.3 Effect of Termination

Upon termination, active backer commitments to your projects will be cancelled and backers notified. Any pending Stripe payouts owed to you at the time of termination will continue to be processed by Stripe per their standard schedule, unless Stripe independently suspends your account.

9. Governing Law

This Creator Agreement is governed by the laws of the Province of Quebec, Canada. Any disputes arising from this Agreement shall be resolved in accordance with the dispute resolution process described in the Terms of Service.
